John Mayer "Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles"

Unter der Regie von Star-Fotograf und-Regisseur Danny Clinch ( Johnny Cash, Björk, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters etc.) wurde mit "Where The Light Is" ein einmaliges Konzert-Event mitgeschnitten, das am 8. Dezember 2007 im Nokia Theater in Los Angeles stattfand.

Das Besondere: Nacheinander spielte Mayer drei Sets in verschiedenen Konstellationen , einem Akustik-Auftritt folgte eine Performance mit dem John Mayer Trio (mit Steve Jordan und Pino Palladino) , zum Abschluss betrat er schließlich in Begleitung seiner kompletten Band die Bühne.

Insgesamt 22 Songs des Abends finden sich nun auf "Where The Light Is" , darunter Mayer-Classics und -Favourites wie " Waiting On The World To Change", "Daughters" und "Why Georgia" , dazu neue Interpretationen von Coversongs ( "Free Fallin'", "Bold As Love", "I Don't Need A Doctor" ).

John Mayer -Fans dürfen sich überdies über den bis dato unveröffentlichten Song "In Your Atmosphere" freuen. Neben der herkömmlichen DVD erscheint "Where The Light Is" am 11. Juli auch als Blu-Ray Disc .

Es ist die erste Veröffentlichung seit John Mayers drittem Studioalbum "Continuum" , das Ende 2006 Platz zwei der US-Charts erreichte und sich alleine in den Vereinigten Staaten mehr als zwei Millionen Mal verkaufte.

Neben seinen eigenen Releases machte der Ausnahme-Gitarrist in den letzten Jahren u.a. durch seine Arbeiten mit HipHop- und R&B-Künstlern wie Common, Alicia Keys und Kanye West , Country-Stars wie den Dixie Chicks und Blues- und Jazz-Legenden wie Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, B.B. King und Herbie Hancock von sich Reden.

John ist ein Vollblutmusiker, der es geschafft hat, sich beständig weiter zu entwickeln , ohne dabei die Bodenhaftung zu verlieren. Dadurch behält er seine Authentizität und liefert immer eine beeindruckende Live-Peformance.

Dieses Konzert wird gleichzeitig auf einer Doppel-CD, als Vinyl und auf DVD veröffentlicht. Der Set auf der Doppel-CD ist identisch mit derjenigen, die sich auf der DVD befindet.
